Biography

Botakrass was born in 2003 with the meeting of three musicians : Thierry Bouchard (bass and vocals), Christian Marier (drums) and Patrick Bouchard (guitar and vocals). We,d been in different groups in the local scene in Baie St-Paul, we first met for the pleasure of improvising. After some months, we started composing our own material. In 2004, a further addition of a second guitarist, Martin Robbins was introduced,the band took on a more serious direction.We then concentrated more on composition, whilst playing some gigs in different contests,clubs and festivals.

In 2007, while we were getting ready to record our official demo, destiny tragically struck The bass player,Thierry Bouchard,took a lethal fall to his death. He was an exceptional friend, a gifted and respected musician and continues being a source of constant inspiration for all of those who knew him.

After long months of mourning, the group began to practice again. In 2008, Botakrass re-enlists again with the arrival of a new bass player and singer,Gino Rochefort.We continued where we left off and composed several new songs besides playing some shows. At the beginning of 2009,a new singer joined the band, Philippe Ringuette. Botakrass passes some months to refine their compositions and to prepare the recording of a demo.

On the August 1st, 2009, Botakrass enters in studio for recording, finally, their first demo. The disc Demolition is recorded live in one day with the help of Dominique Leclerc, Giles Bard, Jean-Philippe Gilbert and André Racicot. The disc includes 4 songs which introduce the different territories where Botakrass explores. Abattoir, Primal Fear, Children of an immoral society and Tetris compose this album which fixes their work in time and that is meant to be a good calling card for the band.
